Hay house agents are being charged with trafficking bitcoin and other illegal drugs, according to a news release from the New York State Police.
According to the news release, a woman was arrested on Tuesday after she and her husband purchased and delivered several kilograms of marijuana from an undercover narcotics squad.
The cannabis was shipped via FedEx to an address in Manhattan.
The woman’s husband was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of narcotics, according the news report.
The agents’ arrest comes just days after New York state lawmakers announced the launch of the Hay House Agents Initiative, a pilot program that aims to combat the spread of fentanyl and other opioids.
The program, which was launched in January, aims to “stop drug dealers and traffickers from exploiting their positions to profit from fentanyl and heroin addiction,” according to the program’s website.
The Hay House agents initiative is funded by the New Jersey State Police’s Office of Drug Control and Community Protection, which is responsible for implementing the program.
The New York Times reported last week that the Hay houseagents initiative is part of a larger effort by New York lawmakers to crack down on the fentanyl epidemic.
