A house-agent from Sussex has been fired from his job after he was found to have burned down a house to the ground.
The Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said on Monday the 45-year-old man had taken a fire alarm to the house of a man in his 40s.
The man, who was found dead in his home, had been sleeping at the time and had left the house without getting any notice.
The fire service said it was investigating the circumstances of the incident.
A Sussex Fire Brigade spokesman said it is “extremely rare” for a home-fire incident to lead to the death of a person.
“When the fire has caused serious injury to a person or a property, we can act quickly to bring the situation under control,” the spokesman said.
“Our investigation will look at the circumstances surrounding the fire and any potential criminal offences that may have occurred.”
